About The Artist ......

Debbi Johnson is a self-taught artist living in Silsden, West Yorkshire. She grew up on a farm and spent many years working with horses and dogs which has given her an intimate knowledge and perception of her subjects. Enabling her to capture the very essence of the animal she is drawing or painting.

Debbi spent six months travelling this country with her dogs in a dormobile, which was invaluable experience to paint landscapes and buildings many of which sold 'fresh off the easel'

A long trip on a boat sailing from America to Africa also proved invaluable as it gave long days to draw and paint from photographs and started the commissions off by painting for the crew on board, who encouraged Debbi to go ahead when she returned and enter some art exhibitions.

This resulted in being voted the visitors favourite artist at the British Society of painters Exhibition. Her feat of coming first out of 224 artists was quite remarkable considering some of Britain's leading artists were showing their best work. Debbi Johnson

Debbi also loves to create sculptures, ceramics and fused glass, always experimenting with colour, light and texture which she finds fascinating.

She enjoys Pet Portraiture — cats, dogs, horses etc, but equally enjoys painting wildlife and detailed landscapes. She endeavours to create artwork that you will enjoy for years to come.
In recent years there has been a great deal of interest in her paintings, with her fine detailed work in pencil and watercolour proving extremely popular. Her pet portraits are true to life and capture her subject's individuality, character and idiosyncrasies, making them appear alive.
